To Con a Gentleman by Sarah Adams

As another reviewer puts it, if you want a historically accurate read, To Con a Gentleman is not the book for you. If you are into a light, fun read...it may be the book for you, dear reader.

I was drawn by the premise of the book which was unique. How did I find it? I was not invested/convinced in/of the relationship Rose and Carver were in. Their chemistry never jumped off the pages for me, so to speak. I did not care for Rose, for them when it was evident Carver wouldn't budge and open up about Claire.

I did appreciate the book shedding light on how grief emotionally wrecks a person aka Carver, renders them unable to move on from the past. Man almost lost Rose as he wallowed back and forth between the stages of grief. I was almost convinced they would never get together but then again, this is a modern historical romance where the main characters must have a HEA. The twisted part in me wanted them to both end up alone after their failed relationship.
