Trigger by J.L. Drake

5.0

Trigger was provided by InkSlingerRP for an honest review.

This book - this flipping book was a choke up cluster fuck of emotions. Boom, there I said it. I loved this book. I have never read anything from JL Drake, but here we are, take my wallet, just take all my money. I cannot get enough of this dark romance biker genre, it makes me all hot and bothered!

I love Tess and Trigger. Both have a story to tell; both have troubled pasts, they are so different yet so alike. Tess is not a one-dimensional female lead, she is actually rather explosive. At the beginning, she is extremely guarded, definitely a closed shell because she is running from her past, which seems to still hover a great deal over her mind. Even with this fear she is still a badass; definitely ball busting type female, she is strong and weak all at the same time. Tess is the perfect match to Trigger.

Trigger is living his past demons, and honestly he is the true biker hardass that is just gives zero shits for anyone but his family - his club. At first Trigger doesn't trust Tess, he has a really intimating personality. I am definitely a sucker for an alpha menacing male, and Trigger drips with this persona. He is hard, rough around the edges, and a stone fox - seriously butter me up and call me Tess.

With these two types of personalities, Tess and Trigger really make the novel. Seriously, I loved them together. On the one hand having Trigger being this brooding hardass who meets his match with Tess who is a complete enigma to him. At first they really have this clashing tension that builds yet Trigger may appear to be closed off on Tess yet he seems to actually care whether he likes to admit it or not. Once the tension really hits a point, they really collide, fireworks come off the pages.

Aside from the drool worthy yet questionably scary intimating chemistry between our main characters, I have to say I really enjoyed the supporting cast. Everyone from Brick, to Gus, all of the biker supporters were just an add on to the backbone of the premise. I honestly did not expect to love this as much as I did, the twists and turns of the plot, to the secrets of not only the main characters but the other gang as well - everything really just hit a climax that did not stop delivering.

For my first really intense biker themed romance, this was spot on epic. Drake really had a knack for creating this intense world that leaves chills down my spine. I was completely captivated by Trigger. The characters had such a depth that couldn't be reached, everything was perfection. I honestly cannot wait to dig into Demons, this is one hell of a ride.
