3.5

This book was both as good as I wanted it to be and somehow also very drawn out and not as great as I’d hoped. I have given it a 3.5 star rating but rounded up to 4 stars.

I loved the storyline and plot, however it was slightly slower paced and had several tangents that could have been condensed down or gotten through a little quicker.

That being said, I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I loved the lost memories and the piecing together of events to find a truth that has already been found but then lost. It was a unique perspective for a novel with a detective angle.

I obviously loved the elements of magic and an entire magical system to keep magic intact and away from normal mortals. I will definitely be continuing the story itself with book two in the near future
