i stumbled across the hunger games completely by chance. previously i was reading lighthearted books about fairy princesses and child-sleuths i had never known a book like the hunger games could exist until my aunt had her foot surgery.

Every book that means something to me i remember where i was and exactly how i came to discover it, it was on the window sill and i remember picking it up and thinking the cover was so cool because you could flip it in and out as the person on the cover changed (katniss or peeta.) it was enthralling and gripping and surprisingly easy to understand for seven year old me. My aunt said i could take the book if i wanted she had just finished it.

this is like my 5/6 time re reading it but my first time re reading it after reading songbirds and snakes and i fully believe no one could write this book other than suzanne no one could create a story this eloquently and elaborately and play it off as a young girl. the seeds that are sown in every chapter they’re so small you might miss them.

what a blessing to be able to read this book again and feel like i’m 7 years old again. i felt exactly the same way i did as a child as i do as an adult and perhaps that’s my unwavering love for these books. these books that opened up a completely new world for me (dystopian fiction is my shittt and was my gateway into dystopian fantasy 💪🏿) idk i thourogugoy enjoyed this book and re so nice to be back with my babies again
