an odd book with an odder ending, but it still managed to be a satisfying conclusion to the farseer trilogy for me. i'm very excited to see where the realm of the elderlings goes next!

i do think 4* is a bit generous for this but i love these characters and they were very much the heart and soul of this book, which i wouldn't have gotten through it without. i don't begrudge robin hobb her slow, meandering pacing but christ it was often a bit much in this. if nothing else i come away from this with such a deep psychological understanding of fitz that i've never experienced with any other character.

the most unserious side note but fitz and the fool have my most favourite romantic and loving relationship ever, i do not care that's not what she intended and denies that reading of them ❤️
