Beth and her daughter Jack live a quiet but beautiful life. Beth's mother, Lana, has to move in with them because of her cancer treatments. All is simple in their life until one day, when Jack finds a body on one of her kayak tours. Lana, who has been needing a project, pounces on discovering the culprit.
This book was full of bad ass women, power suits, dating escapes, and most of all, reconnecting with your family. The characters are delightful and compelling. You get to try to solve the crime alongside them and experience it unfolding. There were just enough clues to make the culprit make sense but not be super obvious, with plenty of red herrings along the way.
