Honestly, quite disappointed with this. I love Ben Kane’s works, but I never really got into this one. Somehow, even when the most exciting things were happening, events that shaped history as we know it, became under detailed and plain. Of course there were definitely bits I enjoyed but just not enough of them. The writing was a complete let down compared to the first book, using foreshadowing repetitively and without any deep meaning. I liked the characters to an extent but they were almost.. flat. Nothing about their character actually meant something to me, and therefore their actions were less brilliant to read. The plot was good, slow, but very interesting to see play out.
If this book was more detailed, the characters written with hashed out thoughts and feelings that connected with the story, then The Silver Eagle would’ve easily been a five star book. Sadly, this was not the case, hence why I have rated 3.5/5 stars.
