Chandler by Laurelin Paige

I enjoyed this story. It was short, but good. The plot managed to present me with surprises and kept me interested throughout. I must also add, though, that the book was so short, I felt it struggled with exposition. As in, there wasn't enough/very good exposition. Basically all of Chandler's family relationships felt a bit like a rough draft. The details were slim and the nuances were hard to catch. If you haven't read any of the previous novels in the series, you'd be screwed. I haven't read the predecessors in quite a while, and it was a struggle, at times, to really remember why Chandler and his family have such complex issues with one another, and they never get directly addressed in this book. Considering that the author seems to have been going for more of a novella, I don't entirely blame her, as it seems the prerogative of the author to presume/expect readers to remember the previous novels better. Nevertheless, it down-graded my opinion of the book as a whole. Despite, this, I still would recommend it to a friend.
