The End of the Ocean by Maja Lunde
5.0
The end of the ocean is an adult dystopian by Norwegian author Maja Lunde. Several of the reviews state it's not quite as good as her most known book, The history of bees. I absolutely loved The end of the ocean, so I guess the history of bees just climbed my tbr!
The story has two POVs. One is set in the present time, narrated by Signe, an 70 year old climate warrior. She has all her life been passionate about the sanctity of nature. I loved following Signes narrative. She is such a strong character, and I enjoyed following her journey and learning how she developed her values and principles.
The other narrator is David, set in the near future, when Spain is all out of water. On their run from the drought, David and his daughter Lou comes away from his girlfriend and their son. David is a very human character, and I loved cheering for him and following his journey. I also appreciated how Lunde wrote of the relationship between father and daughter on the run.
I had a good time, it was fast paced and easy to digest, full of passion, complex characters love for nature and water
