Kafka: A Life in Prague by Klaus Wagenbach

a really great insight into Kafka’s life and for someone who practically didn’t know anything about him, this book was nicely condensed into all different facets of his life. this book is filled with so many fascinating quotes from Kafka, but here are three that stuck with me:

“The selfishness of parents — the authentic parental emotion — knows no bounds…parents do not stand in a free relationship to their children, as an adult stands towards a child — after all, they are his own blood, with this added grave complication: the blood of both parents.”

“I have always been discontented even with my contentment.”

“A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us.”
