I honestly don’t understand how McFarlane is not up there with Emily Henry in the booktok and booktwitter discussions. Her novels are so much more than just adult romance stories, they are incredibly intricate depictions of friendships, relationships and character growth that are more fitting to the genre of women’s literary fiction. I can understand that maybe the britishness of the banter and humour won’t be everybody’s cup of tea (😉), but I’d say give her novels a try at least.
