We Had To Remove This Post by Hanna Bervoets

challenging dark reflective fast-paced

4.5

Unlike some of the reviews, I really enjoyed this book. I think most people went into this book expecting for it to be a list of horrible posts that a content moderator would see on their daily basis. However, it's pretty obvious from the very first page that the book is not focused on that but on the effects of chronic exposure to violence. So, if you are only looking for the shocking content, this book may not be for you.
I find the ending pretty interesting.
I think the author did a good job leading us. The ex-girlfriend wanting to film a video to show her being raped and how violent the sex had got over time, the memory of the MC wraping her hands around her ex's throat, it tighted the events nicely.
Although the ending of the book was not specially incredible, it is coherent. The MC realises that her ex-girlfriend is right. She planned to pretend to be a friend of a dead girl, to beg for forgiveness and breaked into a house just to try to get back to her ex. She was delusional and her morals were extremely twisted towards the end. So twisted that she couldn't even notice she was rapping someone.

The book could have been longer. It shed light to a very interesting and important topic. I thank the author for providing sources from her research for writing the book.
