Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

5.0

I picked up this book because 1) I love sci fi, and 2) It was on a top 100 sci fi book list. I'm surprised I had never read this before. Really, an amazing read!

This is in the genre of sci fi that involves battles that civilizations go into due to fear of the unknown with an alien group. Young Ender Wiggin is fast tracked to become a military commander to save the world from the Buggers, an alien race. Admittedly, the humans know part of the problem is that they cannot communicate with the Buggers and don't know their intentions.

The bulk of the book is Ender and other people his age going through grueling military training. While it is grueling, it does have the feel of game play to it. Also there are some interesting personal twists to this story, as Ender is one of 3 children, each with their own role to play in the Bugger story.
