And Another Thing... by Eoin Colfer

2.75

This wasn’t too froody. I think I’m just over the series lol. It shouldn’t have been revived. There just wasn’t a point to this story as there was was with first few books. 2.5-3 ish stars.

Colfer started off trying too hard to be Adams and it felt forced. I think as it went on he got a bit better. The Guide Notes were a hit or a miss, but I thought it was an interesting addition. He has some other good ideas, and there are many parts that are complicatedly funny. I felt smart enough to get a RNA reference, but I knew I was missing some other inside jokes here and there, and I was honestly too tired to care to figure it out. Sad there was no Marvin and that Trillian still sucked, but glad we got character development with Random and  that Zaphod was back. Kinda.

I was a huge fan of the Artemis Fowl series but must say I was not sure if he could pull this off. I believe he made a valiant attempt. It feels like an impossible task considering the way the series was going; I don’t think Adams could have saved it either if he was alive. It would have been better if Colfer had just written a completely different story with some of the ideas he used in this book and just not touch these characters/world.

Having read all the books now, I understand why I didn’t grow up knowing this was a series lol. I wouldn’t really recommend any book beyond the first one, but if I had to, I would say don’t read beyond the third.
