I have loved Elizabeth Berg books for a long time. Arthur Truluv is a beautifully written book, as always. I fell in love with the characters and their lives. I enjoy the way Elizabeth Berg draws in a reader, to an ordinary neighbourhood, to ordinary people and their ordinary activities and how the reader becomes invested in the quirks and dramas of these ordinary lives. While the reader is captivated, they learn about life in gentle and heart felt ways. Perhaps wildly different from their own, these lives help to illustrate, regardless of age, people are interesting. I love the way Berg gently pulls back the covers of aging, exposing the fears and joys of growing old and approaching death. Prosaic yet beautiful.
