As I always seek to include contemporary romanian literature among the English books I normaly read, I came across Horea Sibișteanu's novel. The themes it deals with: the LGBTQIA+ community, mental health, ethnic groups are of high relevance to present-day Romania and relect how important it is to have this book on the book stores' shelves.
However, it didn't have a strong impact on me and it didn't leave me with a clear message. It might be due to its format as a mosaic novel, where the chapters are in a random order (not chronological) and how some chapters end in suspense and the resolution is nowhere to be found in the book. To conclude, despite being an important lecture that I actually recommend, this novel didn't deliver the impact I was hoping to feel upon finishing it.
