Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas

3.0

A play set in Welsh seaside town, Llareggub.
Dylan Thomas narrates the lives of the towns people; starting with their dreams, to their wake, through their day and back again.

Thomas’ favourite character was Captain cat, a blind, past-seafarer, who narrates his town by identifying people by the sounds.
Under Milk Wood is somewhere between poetry and a play or in Thomas’ words ‘prose with blood-pressure.’
And to quote Daniel Jones (second preface):

‘... the play, whether heard in the mind or from a stage, is meant for the ear, which, unlike the eye, imposed no limits upon the imagination.’
