I truly cannot believe how beautifully VE Schwab writes. Every. Dang. Time. Similar to Vicious and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, nearly every chapter is a jump in time and/or a POV switch. I know this is where some people find themselves not enjoying the book, but I feel like Schwab balances it perfectly and makes it entertaining and simultaneously building an incredibly complex world. I never found myself bored or wishing for more entertainment a single time throughout the whole book (the whole series for that matter).

Despite their introduction being later on than the original characters, I also found the new characters to be complex and interesting. The amount of anti-heroes (and straight up villains) in this book just made my heart happy <3 If you love morally ambiguous characters and a dark sci-fi setting, this series is absolutely for you.

(also, is this officially a completed duology?? it is definitely set up with enough interesting loose ends for it to be continued, but I am content either way!)
