Daughter of Moloka'i by Alan Brennert
5.0
I was thrilled to receive an advanced reader’s copy of this book- but my review is in no way influenced by that.
What a beautiful book, and a perfect companion to Molokai. This is not a sequel- Ruth’s life in California runs parallel to Rachel’s life on Molokai for most of the book. The book is filled with so much loss- but also so much love. I cried reading it, but I also smiled and felt the connections between each family member, each character, so deeply.
