*TW for sex trafficking & abuse

A dark, gritty mystery. The author didn’t shy away from the ugliness that could be found in America for non-white, non-male people at the turn of the 20th century. She also did her due diligence in terms of how a multitude of POC were treated, & made sure that her MCs engaged with those issues thoughtfully. A rare thing, tbh. I also loved AJ & Isobel’s blossoming relationship. A gritty, well-written story.
