Dark and Shallow Lies by Ginny Myers Sain
3.0
First young adult book I’ve read… since I was a young adult LOL
Won’t be picking up another that’s for sure. So my review might be a little unfair.
So much teenage immaturity, vulnerability, and angst. To be fair, very much expected. The plot is what interested me, a town full of psychics, and a mystery. However, the whole story line was so drawn, and many times repetitive. The main mystery of what happened to Elora I figured out very early in the book, but there were so many other unsolved mysteries in the book which kept me interested and I was surprised by a few.
The author is a master of setting the scene. Her descriptions of the atmosphere make it incredibly easy to imagine and feel like you’re right there with Grey in La Cachette. Definitely magical in that sense.
Interested to see what the author puts out in the future.
