Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

4.0

I really enjoyed this book, it felt well put together, the storylines made sense and progressed the overall series plot well. Sookie comes to learn more about her grandmother and her telepathy. Merlottes bar is victim to a series of misfortune, for a portion of this you aren’t sure if it’s aimed at Sam because he’s a shifter, at Sookie because the Regent of La is trying to take down Eric or if there is a different reason behind the misfortune. Eventually as the truth is revealed, the book ties back into some earlier plot points in the series. This book really did an excellent job at making up for the previous books lackluster. Along with a fantastic melding of multiple story lines from not only within the book but within the entire series, you get to see a different side of some of the characters. Pam’s character is developed quite a bit in this book and in a very well done and pleasant way. The dynamic between Pam and Eric is shifted a bit throughout this book, as the friendship between her and Sookie seems to grow. Bill and Sookie relationship evolves more, not necessarily romantically but it’s more matured and sensible. Which is refreshing after how tense, distant and awkward they’ve been in the last few novels. Also most importantly, Vampire Bubba returns to the story, his character always brings out such joy and emotion for me.
