Great book! Read it to my 6 and 10 year old. There's a lot of heavy stiff covered in the book, from starvation and death, to child abuse and child labor, to love and loss. If I had it to do over, I would have read it through before reading it to my girls so that I could be better prepped for the conversations we would have.
Moderate: Child abuse, Child death, Confinement, Death, Physical abuse, Slavery, Terminal illness, Xenophobia, Antisemitism, Grief, Death of parent, Abandonment, and Injury/Injury detail
