Sweep: Volume 2 by Cate Tiernan
5.0
I just wanna start out by saying that this volume is sooo much better than the first. We move on from the honeymoon phase of the love affair between Morgan and Cal and get to the juicier stuff.
I don't wanna give too many spoilers for potential readers, but realizing the part Cal played in this surprised me. I liked his character, but I knew that something wasn't quite right with his mama. She looked kinda shady to be honest. But Cal!! Why?! And that ending on Spellbound! The feels!
Hunter grew on me. He always seemed cold and hard but I enjoy seeing another side of him. The mystery with his parents isn't a major theme in this book, but it's definitely important.
Morgan finally grew a pair of ovaries and started thinking and feeling on her own. Even though other characters said she was strong and powerful, in my opinion she wasn't. Yes, her magick is oh-so powerful, but she never seemed to stand on her own, always running toward Cal. I like seeing her independence and I can't wait to see her grow magickally, emotionally, and spiritually.
My only complaint is that I wish I could have seen more of the coven and Morgan's non-witch friends. That's all.
I am definitely reading Volume 3. I can't wait to see what happens next!
