I think the way that the 4 perspectives are used in this novel is incredibly clever on Levy’s part, especially considering that they consisted of a White man and woman and a Black man and woman. I also found the way that all of their stories intertwine fascinating and also the way that the connections are built is really well done. Definitely a difficult read as obviously due to the time period racism is highly prevalent in this novel and plays a role in the story, but nonetheless I think the book provides these 4 different perspectives and 2 different experiences of racism which generates a discussion within the novel. I also think that this book also provides an interesting range of experiences of WW2 and the impact it had on the lives of so many people.
