I’ve been putting off writing this review because I’m so confused on my feelings for this book 😂 I liked the book, but it took me two months to read…parts of it were really slow and sometimes I would get into a certain storyline and then the next chapter would jump timelines or to a different character and wouldn’t go back to the part I liked for a while.
The characters were really strong though. Luz was a great lead and I loved learning about the history of her ancestors. I really liked Luz and her brother Diego’s relationship, but it felt like it got dropped after the beginning and didn’t get picked up again till the end. I wanted more of that.
I think maybe just the jumping around timelines, even within Luz’s own life, made the book feel disjointed, and the ending was especially confusing and abrupt. But I appreciated the characters and I do think it was well written. If you like character stories, definitely give it a try!
