Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard Atwater

A delightful change of pace. I do wish I had an edition with the original illustrations, but the story is the main focus of what turned out to be a chapter book and not a picture book! Though I think if this were written today, the penguins names might be different, overall the story has a timeless sweetness to it. The majority of the happenstances are harmlessly unrealistic but I am glad it ended with the acknowledgement that the penguins would be happier in colder climes and not in show business.
