The Third Kiss: Dorian's Dream by Heather Killough-Walden

5.0

A really enjoyable, different take on a para-romance/vampire tale. I have read so many books in this genre that it's so hard to find one that you can't predict what's going to happen around every corner. This book is an exception.

Vampire Kings from all over the world have waited centuries to find their chosen Queen...a human woman who is able to give birth to Vampire offspring. In this world, the rare Half Vampires are actually considered much more powerful than full-blooded Vampires. Halflings are able to move around in the day time, and hold many of their human aspects, while still possessing the longevity, & heightened powers of a Vampire. Legend has it that the chosen woman will appear to the VK in a dream. This story revolves around what happens when French Vampire King Julien, and his brother Dorien both dream of the same woman. And both want her as their Queen.

The writing is beautifully done, and intelligent, and the characters are well developed.

The ending was a lot more suspenseful than expected, and I can't wait to read more by this author.
