Slow but haunting story about migrant workers in Cyprus. Felt like I entered a world I knew nothing about and would never have learned about or considered otherwise. The book makes you contemplate the sad and untold stories of women separated from their children in order to try and make a better life, and how those vulnerable women are preyed upon from all angles. The story felt a bit flat at times, as nothing really “exciting” happens. But as the story went on I felt more and more moved by Nisha’s plight and the concern by those who missed her. Definitely a depressing story but I’m glad I read it.
