A Coup of Tea by Casey Blair
Did not finish book. Stopped at 0%.
I started to only leaf through it after 50% because
1) the pacing didn't work for me. It felt very slow because the smallest things get explained, but everything happens within a few weeks, which seems unrealistic.
2) Priviliged main character is white*, gets anime green hair, runs around bowing to people in "formal" clothes and is doing tea ceremonies. Best friend is from an opressed group and constantly angry but oh so supportive if the main character. That gave me icky feelings instead of cozy ones. (The author is a white woman.)
* I saw another review that says she is POC. Maybe I overread something. Or maybe the character just reads so white that I deleted any mention of her being POC from my memory. I won't reread to find out.
