TLDR: This is not an unbiased review.

I read the free version on the Wired Magazine website. (Google Compulsory and Wired and you should find the link.) It seems that the $0.99 copy available on i-books may be a little longer. The short story I read is very short and while it is listed as The Murderbot Diaries #0.5 I think that reading at least All Systems Red first would be optimal. There isn’t much room in such a short story to describe characters in more than a few quick brushstrokes. And for those who have already read five novellas and a novel it would be boring too. That being said I love Murderbot and Ms Wells writing so this story gets 5 stars.

By the way, Murderbot, despite publisher blurbs, is a cyborg not an android.
