A Gift to Remember by Melissa Hill

3.0

Whimsical and romantic, I was drawn to the book due to its countless references to classic literature, namely in Austen's Pride and Prejudice. While the dream guy is more of a Bingley than a Darcy, it makes this story rather endearing and sweet. The female protagonist, Darcy is a dreamer and a wanderer whose perspectives of reality and fiction are always blurred. Preferring to curl up in a book rather than meet people, she is a character I can relate to, and I was impressed with the way she faced the reality head on. It is not easy to admit your flaws, but Darcy took it on without grudges, making her seem like a typical, sweet girl, but with courage and big dreams nonetheless. It may not be a favourite book for me, but it is still enjoyable as we go on Darcy's journey through Manhattan, fixing pieces of the puzzle. A good read :)
