The Man Upstairs by Jade West

5.0

Wow.

This was a fantastic book. Jade West did not shy away from anything at all, her boldness sweeping me away as her reader. Initially, I was prepared for a sappy, stereotypical age-gap trope where the guy is filthy rich, and the girl is kind of a bimbo but wants to have her own mind.

My assumptions could not be further from the truth. Julian is wonderfully broken. Jade developed his character expertly, giving him so many delicious layers and facts that made him so real, I felt like I could reach out and grab the lapels of his suit jacket.

Rosie, sweet Rosie. Excellent MFC, whose responses and POV were consistent with not only her age but the trauma she endured.

The spicey scenes were SPOOOIIIICCCEYYY! They touched all the right buttons.

So, if you enjoy age gaps tropes but with very realistic characters, delving deep into the psyche of two people just trying to find love and acceptance while also wanting to get you kink/bdsm bank filled - READ IT!
