The Sandman: Overture by Neil Gaiman
5.0
I think I'm going to take the time now to talk about the entire Sandman Saga instead of just the overture. Cause, (1) how can you talk about the overture without talking about the rest of the Sandman Story? and (2) I personally think it's easier than to review all the (14!!!) volumes separately.
Now that that's said, I don't really know where to start. What is The Sandman? What does it mean to me? Well, let's start smaller shall we... I'm really new to this story. I read the first two volumes before I watched the show and then I read the rest. I've been reading these volumes for almost a month at this point and it's been consuming my life since I finished that first volume. And now that's it's over I don't really know what to do. How do you move on after a story like The Sandman? The Sandman is, to put it simply, a story about stories and if you know me then you'll now that those are my favorite kinds of stories to consume. The Sandman is a big story, or maybe a better word would be vast. Seeing all of the different stories withing The Sandman come together and weave such an enchanting and magical narrative has been such a pleasure for me these last few weeks. To be apart of such a journey with these characters is something I'll think about, hopefully, for years to come. This is truly unlike any story I've ever read before.
aaaaand yeah that's all I can think of to say at this point but I'm probably gonna come back and add to this later cause my brain is literally mush right now. I literally just finished this volume and Idk what to do or say lol
