This is not a book I would choose to read for myself. I’m very picky of fantasy. The plot has to catch and keep my attention and this book didn’t do it for me.

I only read or rather listened to this book because it was this month’s read along. The narrator was good and was really the only thing that got me through it otherwise I would have DNF’d by chapter 3 or 4.

The world building was lackluster, nothing clear or concise as to the type of world the story takes place in. Felt so generic to me. The characters were so basic and none appealed to me. Kiva came off as mousey at times and weak. Jarin was just another character. Narri gave me some hints of Brienne of Tarth.

Overall, not a book I enjoyed but that’s how it goes when you jump in with no knowledge. You either like it or you don’t.
