This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel

  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

5.0

I listened to this audiobook and I LOVED it! I had misty eyes like half of the time (not heavy tears, I wasn’t sobbing, but you get the idea) I loved all of the characters in this book and how they were all so dynamic. Yes they were flawed but the best characters are flawed.
I didn’t love
The Thailand trip, it seemed like it was a little drawn out, but then again it was important for Rosie to return to Penn and support him, and other things

But I’m still giving this 5 stars because there were so many emotions with this book: joy, sadness, frustration, fear, hope. . . etc.
I’m going to yell on the rooftops and suggest this to every transphobic ignorant person I know because it is so eye opening, and it really teaches so much.
