An incredibly focussed exploration of a human mind grappling with it's past and future and the horror of unknowable, unassailable threat to one's safety and humanity. There is nothing I would change about this book hence the 5 stars. It's characters were relatable, grounded and interesting and their interactions interspersed with their moving through the bizarre world of Area X brought nuance to the otherwise singular experience of the Biologist.
