Tower of God Volume One by SIU

5.0

I've long been a fan of Tower of God on Webtoons, so when I heard they were putting out a release in physical form, I definitely wanted to support that endeavor.

The basic story of Tower of God is that you follow a boy named Bam the 25th who enters the tower, a place where people climb to in order to gain whatever they want most in life. The only way to enter the tower is to be invited in, but Bam somehow enters without an invitation making him an irregular because his only friend Rachel is invited to enter the tower. Irregulars are typically people who are ridiculously strong and cause chaos to the order of the tower.

In this volume we see Bam enter the tower and learn a bit about it. Clearly he's not an ordinary person, but he comes off as being weak and powerless. Here we see him face some of his first tests of the tower to see if he is worthy of continuing to climb. It's a bit slow I suppose and the artwork is a bit rough compared to what SIU produces later on, but I have been intrigued by Tower of God since I first started reading and even revisiting the beginning again here, I can see why it caught my interest.
