Make-Believe Wedding by Sarah Mayberry

3.0

Good, not great. It's not often I don't give Mayberry a good 4, 4.5 stars, but this one felt - though enjoyable - less engaging overall. I think I went in biased because I'd cried through two of her older ones (rereads) just yesterday - when she's fully invested in making you feel, she makes it happen, and this didn't get all the way there. I also think, in general, that unrequited romances need more space for development than a novella can give you - I'd love to have seen Heath's changing feelings properly, considering I still felt the imbalance of it even after they got together for real.

I'm always going to love the way the men and women in her novels interact, though; there's something to be said about knowing you can expect maturity and warmth and fondness as you head into a romance novel.

Definitely not rereading material, though.
