it was interesting to learn about how snow came to be the vicious, cruel tyrant that he is in the hunger games and to explore the similarities between katniss and lucy gray. villain origin stories are quite compelling. however, i feel like a couple of parts in the book were unnecessarily dragged out; the author still could have gotten the story across with a lower page count. tbh, i only wanted to read this because i’m watching the movie tomorrow, and i wanted to know what happens in the book so i can find similarities and differences between the two. that being said, i think that’s why i didn’t really form attachments to any of the characters in this book. i do love the little easter eggs throughout the book, i got so excited every time i spotted one!
