Not my favorite, but it was really cool to learn more about honor meadows and desert lands.

We finally figure out the history behind Reece and Angel. As always, it was much more complicated than we were told in book 2-3. That history tied them together while simultaneously keeping them apart. However, they must make peace, even if temporary, to stop the impending doom building in the desert lands.

Since this is a standalone, everything moves quicker than Mera and shadow’s story. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does limit the tension and speeds up resolution. Personally, it was hard for me to get on board with the fact that they’re able to put aside centuries of resentment when I’m sure there were other battles within that timeframe that forced them to work together….so why is this battle different. That’s the main reason I gave it 3.75 stars.
