Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

This book got me hooked more than I expected.

For reference, I listened to this book as an Audio, and I'm never usually a fan of series. I'm more of a stand alone novel kind of gal.

I have always had a soft spot for fantasy, so was very happy to start to ride this latest wave of "Romantasy" novels coming out all over the place. I was disappointed by the last "Booktok Romantasy" series I started off with, so it kind of diminished my hopes for this series and it being overrated like the last one.

Pleasantly surprised to say the least! Unlike the last series where I was constantly confused, felt it lacked a lot in the world building and I didn't really feel a connection for any of the characters at all (Lightlark for those of you wondering) This series was the opposite. Yes there was a fair few spicy scenes, so if that's not for you I reckon you could easily skip those parts. I have to admit, it's not exactly what I live for and could quite happily read the book omitting them scenes, but I'm always worried I'll miss something detrimental to the plot so I tend to power through :P It's sometimes when the characters are at their most vulnerable in these scenes that a key facet of their personality shines through, or in this case, their power!

Looking forward to reading the next book in the series once it becomes available on my Library e-audio catalogue. Gutted that I will have to wait forever for this series to complete itself though as I've read the rumors that this is going to be a 5 part series and they've only just released the 3rd one! This is why I dislike series! They hook me in and I have the dreaded wait to get to the end. Being a library user too, I hate having the pressure to have to read/ listen to a book only within the 3 week loan limit without the relaxation of knowing I can just renew it if I haven't finished it in time. Feel like I can see the beady eyes of everyone else waiting in line behind me and I dont like it! Lol.
