Animal Attraction by Katee Robert

4.0

This was the second book in this duology, and I liked it just as much as book 1. Levi was a gentle giant, and Brooklyn didn't know what to do with how smitten she was. So fun!

Brooklyn Jameson is the roommate and best friend of the heroine in book 1, Cora. She's also a PI, and she's taken a case she doesn't like, but she needs the money. A smarmy, rich jerk has hired her to prove that his neighbor stole his million dollar dog. She doesn't like her client, but she doesn't have to like him to take his money. So. she goes about proving the case. But she is NOT expecting Levi, and she's definitely not ready for her reaction to him.

Levi Turnbull is the best friend of the hero from book 1, Jack. He's also a brilliant, billionaire, video game developer, with a sensitive streak, and a big love for animals. When he saw the condition of the dog that had wandered on to his lawn, he didn't hesitate to act. Yes, TECHNICALLY, taking a dog that valuable is grand theft, but the dog had been mistreated and malnourished, and he's always felt rules were somewhat flexible. Plus his neighbor is a giant a-hole. So, he's been keeping the poor dog hidden while he nurses it back to health. But, he's not counting on the sexy PI sneaking on to his property, and trying to prove him a thief.

Levi and Brooklyn had chemistry like whoa, and I loved their witty, sexy banter. Their conversations were always funny, and entertaining, and I loved watching them interact. Neither seemed to know quite what to do with this connection they were feeling, and it put them both at a loss. Brooklyn knew she had a job to do, but she was hesitant, for the first time ever, to actually do it. Levi knew what Brooklyn was looking for, but it didn't stop him from pursuing her. I liked how out of sorts they both were about the whole thing. It was quite endearing.

These 2 short, sexy books were fun and entertaining, and I really enjoyed my time reading them both. All the characters were relatable, in different ways, and I enjoyed watching their relationships bloom. These were short novellas, and quite fast paced, and I had a great time with them. I always prefer a HEA to a HFN, which is what we get here, but that's just a personal preference. They were still extremely enjoyable and I'm so glad I took the time to read them. As always, I look forward to what's next from this author.
