Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

5.0

Finished post-book club but you know how it goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bradbury was and still is very influential for me and Something Wicked has gotta be one of my top faves of his. I just love how darkly poetic it is, especially how he uses ~word-word~ descriptions (I mean, come on, “beauty built of milk-bone and moon-flesh”? SWOON! “The lovely snail-gleam of the railway tracks…flinging wild gesticulations of lemon and cherry-colored semaphore to the stars”? Snail-gleam! So true! “People… stood raw and animal-crazy, naked… hands out to touch each other”? Sexy and creepy and I wanna join!!!). So many other gems in here, too. UGH, just so rich in imagery without overdoing it with complicated sentence structures. So creepy and weird and a perfect fall read. I enjoyed it just as much at 24 as I did at 14/15. Love this man. His typewriter was on fire for this one fr
