Handbook of Narrative Analysis by Bart Vervaeck, Luc Herman

3.0

Accessible overview of narratology - not comprehensive, but a great resource for those interested in narrative analysis but who might not be narratology scholars specifically. The history and arguments were easy to follow, the examples used were appropriate, and the fact that two short stories (included in the text) were repeatedly referred to when approaching narrative study from various angles was very helpful in keeping up with the authors' trajectories.

Overall, a great text for literature students who want an introduction or overview to narrative analysis without needing mounds of history and specifics, as might be found in Schmid's Narratology.
