The Detour by S.A. Bodeen

3.0

After years of constant torment and being called Skunky at school, Livvy Flynn could care less about the people around her. At 17 years old, she has already gained fame as an accomplished author of a New York Times best-selling book trilogy, visited 12 cities for a book tour, and negotiated a movie deal with Steven Spielberg. So, why waste time on people, especially delusional middle-aged wannabe writers? Relishing the fame and basking in glory would seem to be good reasons. On her way to a writer's retreat, Livvy wrecks her car in a remote, wooded area off the highway. As nearby witnesses arrive, she soon discovers that they have different intentions other than to rescue and assist her from the wrecked car. Just as she thought that her painful memories were behind her, a deranged woman and her wicked daughter decide to hold her captive for unknown reasons of revenge. Filled with suspense, plot twists, and a resourceful protagonist, this fast-paced mystery thriller will captivate the readers and have them wondering, just like Livvy, what she could have possibly done to deserve being imprisoned in a basement.
