Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain: Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students by Zaretta L. Hammond

5.0

This book is essential for any educator. Hammond’s precise, purpose-driven writing and clear layout make it both digestible and impactful. I leave inspired and regretting the areas of my teaching that aren’t as effective as they could be. Hammond’s message is clear: Culturally responsive teaching means building independence in children who have been trained as dependent learners. This mission gives me energy and focus as I look ahead to the next year of my teaching. And hopefully, its influence will seep into my current work as well.
