Tomb of Sand by Geetanjali Shree
3.0
A book by an Indian writer writing in Hindi, this book is a treasure trove of language, family relations, talking animals, and so much more. It discusses the conflicts between traditional and modern ways of life and divisions between people and countries.
The heroine of the story is 80-year-olf Ma, who falls into depression after her husband dies. The children and grandchildren are worried and each try their best to cheer her up, but when she decides to return to life and start living it her way, they all disapprove and try to control her in some way.
Ma begins a delightful and heroic journey to do what she prefers and spend time with people she chooses, showing that it's never too late to follow your own heart.
The book has a delightful premise but it was a longwinded and at times rambling read.
