Sword Art Online 3: Fairy Dance by Reki Kawahara

4.0

Fairies, swords, kendo, dorky video game loving boys, betrayal, pretty girls, handsome/cute swordsmen... What's not to love about this novel?

The continuation of Sword Art Online is an excellent one, though I will say that SAO 1 and 2 were ever so slightly better. The story focuses not only on Kirito, but his cousin, Suguha, also known as Leafa in Alfheim Online. Kirito joins the game to look for Asuna, who never made it back to the real world, and meets up with Leafa, who helps him get to her location. Imagine my surprise at A) the fact that Suguha is in love with her cousin who she thought was her brother for quite a few years, and B) that the novel took a turn and focused on Alfheim politics rather than the quest for Asuna.

That being said, it was still enormously entertaining. The last battle scene made my head spin! Perhaps this isn't the best SAO arc, but in opinion it's definitely worth the read.
