Take this review with a grain of salt because I think some of my issues with pacing were exacerbated by taking longer to read in Spanish. Still, it was really slow which helped to communicate the themes while also being a bit of a chore at times. That said, the way this book captured the mundanity of the world ending was really haunting. I give extra props to this book for being lockdown lit before COVID happened which helps it avoid a lot of the cliches that make media about the time period feel really cheesy and overly sentimental.
